Ometepe Island: Land of The Gods
Nestled in the heart of Lake Cocibolca, Ometepe is a sacred island shaped like the infinity symbol, formed by two ancient volcanoes: Volcán Concepción, the fiery masculine, and Volcán Maderas, the watery feminine. The name “Ometepe” comes from the Nahuatl language, meaning “two mountains,” and its very geography reflects sacred duality and balance.
According to myth, the Mayan and Aztec prophecies spoke of a paradise, a land of sweet waters, fertile soil, and twin volcanoes: one of fire and one of water. It was called “Land of the gods”. Perhaps it’s no coincidence that the Aztecs never made it beyond Nicaragua’s threshold.
To us, this island is more than a place, she is a living spirit. The land of Ometepe offers deep medicine, mystery, and magic. She is wild, feminine, untamed and lush. This mystical place is has a heart beat that activates. Her presence is a living prayer, an embodiment of sacred feminine power and earthly wisdom.
The Cocoon offers an initiation back to our sacred remembrance, a co-creation with the spirit of Ometepe, who has invited us through dreams, visions, and whispers; to gather here, to remember, to heal, and to be reborn.
